Living wills document how patients wish to be treated in the event of becoming incompetent make their medical decisions. are legally enforceable India, nonetheless, doctors can claim conscientious objection implementing any aspect such directives; however, buck stops with hospital ensure that patient’s wishes carried out. In enforcing advance care directives, beneficence and autonomy usually come into conflict. a paternalistic model medicine, nonmaleficence take precedence over autonomy, there is danger ignored. Even if physician not trained give equal importance beneficence, nonmaleficence, they rationalize enforcement an directive under principle rather than autonomy. The ethical principles ahimsa—the being cause physical or mental injury others—and raja dharma—the where person position power puts whom have ahead own wishes—which derived from Hindu, Buddhist, Jain philosophical traditions, help physicians who practice Indic faiths resolve moral dilemma when faced possibility line personal views.
